Project on Indian Ocean
The Indian Ocean is the third-largest of the world's oceanic divisions, covering approximately 20% of the Earth's water surface. It is bounded by Asia to the north, Africa to the west, Australia to the east, and the Southern Ocean to the south.
Some of the countries with coastlines along the Indian Ocean include India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Australia, South Africa, and many island nations such as the Maldives and Seychelles. The Indian Ocean is vital for global trade, serving as a major transportation route for goods between Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
It also has rich biodiversity and is home to various marine species, coral reefs, and important ecosystems.
